What is Backkr, exactly?+
Backkr is an app you log into for marketing actions, reports, and deep dives into your customers – built to help you form a real strategy and acquire more customers, without hiring an agency or a specialist for every gap.
Who is Backkr built for?+
Anyone doing marketing without a full team behind them – in-house marketers covering more than their specialty, freelancers managing multiple clients, and business owners running marketing themselves.
I don't know marketing terminology – is this still for me?+
Yes. Everything's explained in plain English, and Backkr tells you what to do next, not just what happened. No experience required.
I'm a freelancer or agency marketer – can I use this for multiple clients?+
Yes. Each brand runs from its own space under one login, so switching between clients doesn't mean switching your whole toolkit.
What's the difference between Backkr and hiring an agency?+
An agency charges a monthly retainer and works on your behalf. Backkr gives you the analysis, strategy, and execution tools to do it yourself, in a few hours a week – usually for a fraction of a retainer. See the pricing page for current plans.
What's the difference between Backkr and a freelancer?+
A freelancer typically covers one discipline. Backkr covers the full picture – customer insight, strategy, execution, and reporting – from one login.
Does Backkr replace my marketing manager or team?+
No. It removes the manual research and reporting, so your team spends time on decisions, not data-gathering. You stay in control of strategy.
What industries does Backkr work for?+
Backkr works best for SaaS and Service Businesses but is industry agnostic – all results are specific and bespoke for your brand.
Is Backkr only for small businesses?+
No, though it's built with lean teams in mind – solo marketers, freelancers, and business owners without a full in-house team.
Do I need a website already to use Backkr?+
Yes, you will need a website and Google Analytics (GA4). If you don't have a website we can help – see our Need a Website page.
What if I don't have Google Analytics set up?+
You might have it set up and not be using it – that will work fine, you just need the email address attached to it (most commonly it's your personal Gmail or business Gmail) to log in to Backkr. If you need help setting up GA4 contact us.

What do I need to have ready before I start?+
You will only need the email address attached to your Google Analytics account.
What happens in the 4-minute onboarding?+
You connect your channels, and Backkr builds your first brand snapshot from real data – no manual setup required.
Do I need to connect my analytics right away?+
Yes, you will – via email. Whichever email is attached to your Google Analytics account (even if you don't actively use GA4).
What if I get stuck during onboarding?+
You can contact us anytime, we are happy to help.
Can I try it before I commit?+

What's a 'brand' vs a 'collaborator'?+
A brand is a business you're managing marketing for. A collaborator is a teammate or client contact with access to that brand's account. See how each is charged on the pricing page.
Do I pay per client or per seat?+
Billing is based on brands and collaborators – the pricing page shows exactly how that works, including a calculator for your setup.
Can I switch between monthly and annual billing?+
Yes – you can compare monthly and annual options on the pricing page.
Do prices differ by country?+
Yes, pricing is shown in your local currency where we support it. The pricing page updates automatically to your region.
What happens if I stop paying?+
Your brand access pauses – your data stays safe and comes back as soon as billing is up to date.

Account & Team
Can I add teammates to my account?+
Yes, you can add collaborators to any brand you manage.
How many collaborators can I add?+
Two collaborators per brand are included in the price. You can add more collaborators on top of this as required.
Can collaborators see all brands, or just some?+
Collaborators can only see the brand they are attached to, not all of the other ones you manage.
Can I remove a collaborator?+
Yes, at any time.
Can I transfer ownership of my organisation?+
Yes – reach out to support and we'll walk you through it.
Can I have more than one person managing billing?+
Yes you can add multiple people on the account to receive billing information.

What do I get when I log in?+

How does Backkr decide what to recommend?+
Backkr analyses your real customer behaviour and channel data, then turns that into specific actions and a strategy built to grow your customer base – not generic advice.
Does Backkr run my ads for me, or just tell me what to do?+
Both, depending on what you choose. Log in for clear actions and reporting, and action them yourself, or let Backkr do the heavy lifting – either way, you'll see what's working.
Can I approve things before they go live?+
Yes – we will never post anything without your approval.
What's the difference between SEO and GEO?+
SEO is optimising to show up in traditional search engines like Google. GEO is optimising to show up in AI-generated answers, like ChatGPT, Perplexity, and AI Overviews.
Does Backkr write my content for me?+
Yes. Based on your brand book, Backkr can draft content that sounds like you, even on the days you didn't write it yourself.
Does Backkr post to my social channels directly?+
It will soon! Meta and Google ads are on the way and so is posting to all accounts, including LinkedIn, organically.
Can I use Backkr for more than one brand at the same time?+
Yes – every brand you manage lives in its own space under one login.
What if a feature doesn't apply to my business?+
Backkr adapts its recommendations to your business and industry – features that don't apply simply won't surface as priorities.
How often is my strategy updated?+
Strategy is updated monthly and based on reporting outcomes.
Data, Privacy & Security
What data does Backkr collect?+
Only what's needed to analyse your marketing – your connected channels, website, and analytics data.
Why do you need my Google Analytics, even if I haven't used it?+
Google Analytics is often overlooked, underused or 'just numbers on a page' – Backkr turns it into valuable customer information and action.
What happens to my data once it's connected?+
It's used to build your customer insights, reports, and recommendations – nothing more.
Do you sell or share my data?+
No. Your data is used only to power your recommendations and reporting.
Is my data used to train AI models?+
Your data runs through AI models who have their own privacy policies and terms and conditions – these state they are not using your data to train off via the plans we pay for.
Can I disconnect my data at any time?+
Yes, you can disconnect any channel whenever you like.
What happens to my data if I cancel?+
You can export your data before you leave, and we'll remove it from our systems after that.
Is Backkr GDPR compliant?+
Yes.
Where is my data stored?+
Your data is encrypted in transit and in storage in the SOC2 compliant databases Backkr uses.
Integrations
What tools does Backkr connect to?+

Can I connect Xero or Stripe for reporting?+

Do I need to already use Canva, Slack, etc. to benefit?+
No, these aren't required to get value from Backkr.

Is Backkr a real company, or a solo tool?+
Backkr Limited is a registered company based in Christchurch, New Zealand. Backkr is also the SaaS product name.

How is Backkr different from just using ChatGPT for marketing advice?+
ChatGPT gives generic advice from general knowledge. Backkr analyses your actual customer behaviour and channel data, so every recommendation is specific to your business, not a guess dressed up as advice.
Is a Backkr subscription actually enough to replace an agency?+
Often lean teams and business owners can't afford an agency or it's not the right time to hire one. If you have time to give to your marketing but want growth marketing / specialist knowledge to back you, that's where we come in.
How do I know the recommendations are trustworthy?+
Every recommendation comes with the plain-English reasoning behind it, so you can see exactly why it's suggested, not just what to do.
